Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, is pleased to announce that Alexandra Boltasseva, Purdue University, USA, has been selected as the 2023 recipient of the R.W. Wood Prize.

Quantum science and engineering can help save energy, speed up computation, enhance national security and defense and innovate health care. With a grant from the National Science Foundation, researchers from Purdue University, Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame will work to develop industry- and government-relevant quantum technologies as part of the Center for Quantum Technologies.

Building off the blueprint of last year’s all-virtual event, the Quantum Science Center held its second annual summer school in a hybrid format on May 8–12, 2022. The agenda included online and in-person activities hosted by core QSC partner Purdue University.

Purdue University is leading efforts to strengthen quantum science and technology development in a new Midwest-based alliance that will bring together dozens of scientists and engineers from three partner universities.
