Research Impact
The research in the Hood lab focuses on using molecules for quantum information science. One experiment laser cools and traps ultracold atoms and assembles them one by one into ultracold molecules. Ultracold molecules are a promising new direction for quantum simulations with controlled interactions through the molecule’s electric dipole moment. The other experiment uses cryogenically cooled molecules for quantum optics to generate quantum light for quantum sensing and communication.
