Research Impact
Prof. Pothen’s research focuses on the design, analysis, implementation and deployment of algorithms for solving problems in computational science and engineering, data science, optimization, etc. on emerging computer architectures. His group has recently designed hybrid classical-quantum algorithms for financial optimization, and maximum independent set and related problems on graphs, that overcome the limitations on problem size imposed by current Noisy Intemediate-Scale Quantum computers.
